Review:

It’s been a while since I thought of Gerry Anderson’s Space1999, but Moon, directed by Duncan ‘I’m-David-Bowies’-kid-Jones made me feel all nostalgic for that long-ago TV series…and a whole lot more. This is a throw-back to the science-fiction films I grew up on, heavy on character, idea and story (remember ‘story’ kids?) and less on any real effects. I had thought this kind of science fiction filmmaking was over and I was tickled to see the use of miniatures (I assume), imaginatively treated sets, clothes and neato vehicles making a comeback. Used to be I could suspend belief quite easily because effects didn’t take me out of the element of the film but because of the recent spate of ridiculous CGI it’s been a long time for me to really get into and believe a film of a fantastic nature.

Moon had me believing I really was ‘up there’ with Rockwell and his dilemma.
Sam Rockwell playing Sam Bell, treats us to an unnerving 97 minutes, centered round the perfect dusty tightness of cinematographer Gary Shaw’s movements and sets. As we should all come to expect from Rockwell, his performance is top rate, in what can only be described, in the strictest sense of the word, a ‘dual role’. I knew the guy could act ever since I saw him as Chuck Barris in Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind but watch the guy in this movie and you’re convinced he is one of the best of his generation.

Helped along by his GERTY robot (voiced by Kevin Spacey) a mystery is slowly revealed to explain just what and who Sam really is. And while laconic movies of this type usually implode after the secret is out, it is a testament to the power of Nathan Parker’s screenplay (Jones wrote the story but then handed screen writing over to Parker) and Rockwell’s amazing acting chops that keeps one engrossed with Moon, on the Moon, about Moon ‘til the very end.

Review:

There is little to say about Star Trek. The movie in two words: Absolutely Amazing. The new Star Trek not only brings in great actors who played the parts perfectly but it was by far one of the best sequels of the film world to date. I personally have not seen any Star Trek movies or episodes in the past by any means. With that in mind; this movie really shocked me!

I cannot believe how intense a situation can get onboard a starship! Is captain Kirk really that much of a controlling character in the original series? Aside from that fact, I really liked the creative scenes that were put together involving both Kirk(Chris Spine) and Spock(Zachary Quinto)!

Throughout the beginning of the film they were fighting to be the man in control but they both accepted each other through their own way and are working together as possibly the best duo tandem this film industry has ever seen.

The new Star Trek promises glorious action, exacerbate drama, enormous laughter, and diabolical intelligence all wrapped into a two hour film. Star Trek is one of the best movies on the market right now so don’t miss your chance to see it!

Review:

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is by far an amazing movie. The trailer of this movie promised an action endured film, and it did just that. This is possibly one of the best prequels I’ve since seen Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. The movie starts from the beginning of Logan’s (Hugh Jackman) life as a child when he discovered his mutant powers; the movie ends when he loses all of his past memories.

I cannot believe how amazing Hugh Jackman maintained his character throughout this movie! Hugh Jackman was in literally almost every scene in the movie! The movie hadn’t gone 5 minutes without showing Hugh Jackman’s sexiest man alive of 2008 body in the next scene! And with all this happening, Hugh just made it a movie worth watching.

A lot of twists and ties had turned this movie into an epic classic film. This entire film explains Wolverine’s continuous flashbacks in the first X-Men films. It also explains Wolverine’s resistance to connect with anyone. On top of that it explains how Wolverine got his name and his unbreakable metal claws! So much explanation with so little time.

That was the downside of this movie, “little time”. There was so much information and explanation that the producers had to do that was all jammed into a two hour film. I know two hours seems like it would be an extreme amount but even after the film was over there was the big essence of a “rushed film”. There was a lot of story told, yes, and there were many action scenes, yes, but it seemed that the movie jumped from scene to scene very quickly.

I would definitely see the movie in theaters as well as purchase this movie. It is an all time classic that lives beyond its standards as a prequel.
